Derrick T. Tamayo is a South Florida personal injury attorney and the founder of DTT Legal, PLLC. He is dedicated to providing personalized, compassionate, and aggressive representation for individuals injured due to the negligence of others. With extensive experience handling hundreds of cases, Derrick has secured favorable settlements and judgments for clients across Florida. He does not hesitate to litigate when necessary and prepares each case as though it will go to trial.

As a proud South Florida native and first-generation Cuban American, Derrick has deep ties to the community he serves. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University and graduated cum laude from Saint Thomas University School of Law.

Prior to entering private practice, Derrick served as a law clerk for a Circuit Court Judge in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida. During this time, he gained an invaluable experience and sharpened his legal writing, research, and courtroom skills while learning firsthand how cases move through the judicial system.

Derrick later spent several years as an insurance defense attorney, representing major insurance companies and their insureds in personal injury, property, and complex litigation matters. This background gave him an in-depth understanding of how insurance carriers evaluate claims, assess risk, and strategize litigation. Today, he uses this insider perspective to anticipate defense tactics, build stronger cases, and advocate more effectively for injured clients.
